Definite easier than going solo especially as tickets for ferry run out! The only problem was returning by train where we were in a crush and standing for over an hour after a full day due to a wine festival… arguably additional trains should have been put on. But it was great day overall.”

The only thing I would change perhaps is taking a shorter, more direct ferry from Lecco to Bellagio to allow for more time in the towns. I felt somewhat rushed in both places we stopped with only one hour in Varenna. Pros: small group, knowledgeable guide, hassle free transportation without lines, time to ourselves in towns Cons: too much travel time, not enough time in each area”
